"We're very excited to announce that for the first time ever, the Layne Staley Tribute Concert will be broadcast LIVE on the internet! We receive e-mails daily from fans across the globe who aren't able to attend... now we can share this very special evening with you...

HERE ARE THE DETAILS: The tribute will be streaming live at www.synclive.com.
Once on the page, you'll create a free login. The tribute will be listed on the left-hand side of the page under 'upcoming shows' soon! There will be a link to the Layne Staley Fund store website where you'll be able to purchase this year's t-shirt, poster and calendar and/or donate should you choose to do so. In the meantime, create your log-in and familiarize yourself with the site.

There will also be a code within the show page... PLEASE post it via bulletin and/or embed on your page to spread the word!

As an added bonus, you'll be able to chat LIVE with other fans watching the show... and the bands will login from time to time to chat it up as well!

Special thanks to C2M2 and Chris Cottingham who are donating their time and energy to put this together for us.

Thank you as always for your love of Layne and your support of LSF!

Here is a bulletin posted on the Layne Staley Fund MySpace page!

"Hello L'Angels,

We've got a HUGE announcement regarding this Friday's Layne Staley Birthday Party & Pre-Show Event!

We've just added a surprise INTERNATIONAL ACT to our incredible list of bands performing on August 22nd at Studio Seven! We are going to keep this band a secret so you'll just have to come to the show to find out who it is!

A little hint: They've toured with both Disturbed and Seether so you know they're gonna BRING IT!!

They are DONATING their performance too, so the money we raise at the Pre-Show can go towards LSF & heroin recovery!

Better get your tickets NOW cuz this baby is gonna SELL OUT!

Yep yep, new to the community. I'm Bri.

Well, the way I grew up meant I didn't even know about AIC until a year ago. My musical history went from 60s to 90s pop, over to rock in general and just now it's falling on the big four. And of course the band I love the most - Layne's gone. But thinking back to where I was, when he was, it makes me feel that despite being physically alone, I wasn't really alone in that state of mind. You know what I mean.

"I could go anywhere in the world - if only I knew where to go" is probably what stuck with me most out of anything he said, lyrics or interviews. That's where I'm at right now.

Anyway I will be posting some Layne icons soon, so stay tuned!

1. Isn't the tribute in 2 days? Anyone here going?
2. I heard they give out calendars at the tributes and that those calendars have exclusive photos & diary entries...? How can I possibly see them having recently gotten into AIC? I'm a huge fan but does being so late means I'm losing out? Maybe the calendars are on eBay...

Subject:Shapes and colors shift with mood

Mood: nostalgic.
So, I had this thought while I was feeling kinda blue. I first came across "Rain Song" by Cold ("No, not the Led Zeppelin song," says Scooter) in my iPod and it is definitely a melancholy song for me. Then I stumbled onto Youtube and picked out "Nutshell" from the Unplugged show. I have it on DVD, I just don't have a way to watch it at the moment. "Nutshell" has always been one of those songs that has some strange power to depress and uplift me at the same time.

Anyway, I realized I haven't had any AiC userpictures in a very, very long time and went about doing a search, and came across this community. I did pick some userpictures out, and I will add the credit to whoever made them, I just wasn't logged in while I searched so I couldn't comment right away. But, I went back and saw some pretty tribute graphics and I thought what better way to show my entry into the community than to put the three tribute banners I made as soon as it happened?

You're welcome to hotlink, should you be interested. I can't imagine I'd move them from where they are and there's no bandwidth issues.

Keep in mind, these are old for even me, but I've never been completely amazing with animations and I can't afford paying for a wonderful program.

Subject:Layne The Movie???
Posted by:random_goth.
Time:11:17 am.
Having a quick surf last night I foud this on Layne's Wikipedia entry -
"According to a press release from ARTS Publications, Argentinean journalist/author Adriana Rubio has been contacted by writer/director Eric Moyer from Philadelphia about turning her biography of late ALICE IN CHAINS frontman Layne Staley, titled 'Layne Staley: Get Born Again', into a movie."

Has anyone heard any more about this? What's the general feeling about a movie based on Rubio's books, as I get the impression they aren't very well liked in AIC fan circles? Anyone want to suggest who could portray Layne (and maybe Demri as she was a big part of the story)if this actually happens?

I need a favor.

I`m making a Layne collage & need all the pictures I can.

I`d appriciate website links to good galleries, individual picures, or anything else beautiful.

Large pictures are preferred, but I`m happy with all kinds.

Help is very appriciated! (:

Hey I was hoping you all could help me out with two questions.

My first question is does anyone have pictures of Layne when he was a kid? I have seen one pic, I think its a school pic with a blue background and he is wearing a red shirt. But recently I saw a very small collage pic of another school picture and I was wondering if anyone had that. I think it had a gray background.

My second question is about the Laynethelegend.com. does anyone else have trouble getting into the website? I try to go to it and the flash player never loads. I do have macromedia on my comp, I checked it, but for some nothing ever loads on that page. Is there another link that can take you to the main page?

Subject:So How Do We Feel About Alice In Chains Without Layne?
Posted by:random_goth.
Time:3:27 pm.
I could be wrong but I don't think anybody on this community has posted anything about this - http://www.aliceinchains.net/tour/default.aspx

So what's the reaction Layne fans? Personally I'm quite happy for Jerry, Sean and Mike to tour and play Alice songs, but I'd rather that they follow the lead of Audioslave and Velvet Revolver where a similar situation has happened (band stays the same apart from the singer) and perform under a new name. I saw Comes With The Fall a few years back when they supported Jerry Cantrell live, and their singer (who'll be handling vocal duties on the European dates) has a voice that's not too dissimilar to Layne, but it still won't be the same.

Posted by:aenohe.

Mood: so sad.
As many of you know (I hope all of you do), tomorrow is the fourth anniversary of Layne's unfortunate and all-too-soon passing. Myself and a few friends of mine have decided to deck ourselves entirely in black tomorrow, in order to show our remembrance, respect, and love for Layne and his music.

I think it would be really cool if we could all, as a community, share this experience. Please wear black and play your AIC CDs as loud as you can on the way to work. :)
